TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A vehicle crash left a Tallahassee Police Department officer with minor injuries early Thursday morning.

The collision involved a TPD squad car and a dump truck at the intersection of Thomasville Road and Raymond Diehl Road, Officer David Northway said.

It happened at 4:37 a.m. Thursday morning and officers were on scene until around 7 a.m.

Luckily, the officer, identified as Brent Williams, only suffered minor injuries. He was taken to the hospital for an evaluation and was later released.

Unfortunately, the patrol car is disabled due to damage sustained during accident. The dump truck, driven by Jemychal Salter, only suffered minor damage and the driver is reported to be fine.

Salter has been issued a citation for failing to stop at a steady red signal.

Officers are advising motorists to proceed with caution because of debris on the road.

The officer's name has not been released yet.
