TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The Tallahassee Police Department has received calls from residents about the possibility of sex traffickers luring women out of their apartments.

TPD's Special Victims Unit has been receiving numerous phone calls from residents regarding the possibility of sex traffickers luring women out of their apartments by using the sound of babies crying to get their attention.

TPD states many people are concerned for themselves and their family members.

"We don't have any evidence of this happening in any form like that in Tallahassee so we don't want anybody scared but always stay vigilant," said Rachelle Denmark, TPD's Public Information Officer. "If you think somethings going on, instead of pushing it out on the internet, call us."

At this time, TPD says they have no reports of this happening. They do not have any evidence of this situation occurring and have no reason to believe anyone is in immediate danger.

TPD states to still be cautious of your surroundings and if anything sounds or looks suspicious, please report it to them immediately by calling 911 or their non-emergency number 850-606-5800.
