TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare is asking everyone to take a survey that'll help the hospital meet needs of the community.

WTXL ABC 27's Jada Williams was live Friday morning to tell how TMH's survey going to better serve the community.

The survey - known as the Community Health Needs Assessment - will gather answers from people living right here in the Big Bend about their eating, health and exercise habits.

The answers from the CHNA are then put together to find ways to target neighborhoods in need of specific attention.

For example, the last survey found a need for healthier eating options close to the southside of Tallahassee.

TMH then partnered with the city to bring the Southside Farmer's Market to the area.

Every three years, not-for-profit hospitals do community health needs assesment.

Instead of paying taxes, the hospitals give back to those in need of extra assistance.

Melissa Dancer is the TMH director of Health Promotion.

"In health care, we think we have all of the answers and we think that we've got a lot of tools and resources," she said. "But one of the most important things that really gets forgotten is the word from the community members and what people really need on an everyday basis in their community to live healthier."

TMH is asking everyone 18 and older in Leon, Gadsden, Wakulla and Jefferson counties to take the brief survey.

The survey is available now through March 8.
