Three arrested in fatal Madison County shooting identified

MADISON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - A shocking turn of events in the Madison County deadly shooting.

According to investigators, the woman shot dead and the man shot in the leg, were shot by a homeowner they were trying to rob.

The female victim was tied up and the suspects beat the male victim. The male victim was able to retrieve his gun and shot two of the suspects.

Of the four suspects involved Keosha Lewis and Selena Murray were uninjured. Jeremiah Davis was found away from the house on Mandina Avenue with a gunshot wound to the hip. Jamescya Pringle, was driven to the hospital by a bystander, but was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Police tell me that this type of criminal activity is unusual for Madison, but law enforcement was able to handle it well.

"The public’s really had not much of an idea as to what was going on. Everything was happening so fast," said Madison County Police Chief Reggie Alexander. "We got the calls and due to the professionalism of the communication center and our officers on the street responding, everything kind of worked out."

This is still an ongoing investigation, but charges are pending for Lewis, Murray, and Davis.

Davis, the suspect who was shot in the hip is expected to make a full recovery. The male victim is also recovering from his injuries, but not hospitalized. The female victim was uninjured.


MADISON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - The Madison Police Department has released the names of the three people in connection to Wednesday's fatal shooting in Madison County.  

Keosha Lewis, 20, and Selena Murray, 18, are charged with armed burglary. While, charges of felony murder and armed burglary are pending against Jeremiah Davis, 21. 

Yesterday morning four suspects entered a home on Mandina Avenue occupied by a male and female victim.  The suspects tied-up the woman and beat the man. 

Davis was armed with a gun and threatened the victims.  The male victim was able to retrieve his firearm and shoot the suspects, killing one and injuring another.  

Lewis and Murray were not injured, fled the home and were arrested a few hours later. 

A bystander drove suspect Jamescya Pringle, 19, to Madison County Memorial Hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival.  Davis, who was shot in the leg, was later located and transported to the hospital. 

Lewis and Murray were booked into the Madison County Jail. Davis remains hospitalized and is expected to make a full recovery.    

The male victim is recovering from his injuries, while the female victim was not injured. 


MADISON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - Authorities have arrested three people in connection to Wednesday's fatal shooting in Madison County.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement says that the arrests come after a woman was found shot to death in an car abandoned at the Madison County Memorial Hospital. 

A second victim also was found injured. 

FDLE has not identified those arrested but the Madison Police Department is expected to hold a press conference at 2 p.m. Thursday regarding the investigation.

MADISON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - Authorities are investigating the death of a woman who was found shot in parked car outside the Madison County Memorial Hospital Wednesday morning. 

The Madison Police Department and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement are heading up the investigation. They say the incidents started at a home on Mandina Avenue around 10 to 11 a.m.

Residents say they heard gunshots several streets away. MPD then began investigating the scene and questioning neighbors.

Local schools, daycares, and even the hospital were put on lock down as a precautionary measure, but that was soon lifted.

At Madison County Memorial Hospital, however, law enforcement remains on scene after finding a deceased woman who had been shot and abandoned in a vehicle.

Shortly after, police were able to catch a man hiding in a resident's yard, only blocks away from Mandina Avenue.

"We had no idea. No idea. My daughter was downstairs. I had fixed her breakfast. I was upstairs getting ready," said Shay Bridges, a Madison resident. "I was just blown away. Absolutely blown away Just traumatizing, devastating experience. I was so thankful he didn’t try to come into the house thankfully he hid." 

Investigators note the man had a gunshot wound and is now being treated at the hospital for a non-life-threatening injury. The incidents appear to be related.

Police are continuing to search for two others they believe were involved in the incident. The investigation is ongoing.

MADISON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - Schools in Madison County were on lock down following a fatal shooting.

The lock downs have since been lifted. 

The Madison Police Department says they got the call about the shooting at 11:20 a.m. on Wednesday. They say it happened at a home on Mandina Street.

Police say one is confirmed deceased and another is in critical condition after being shot in leg. 

Victims of the shooting have arrived at the hospital and as a precautionary measure lock downs were initiated in the immediate area surrounding the the Madison County Memorial Hospital to include James Madison High School, NFCC, and daycares.

The lock downs have since been lifted. The Madison County Sheriff's Office stresses that there is no active shooter and say that there is no identifiable threat in the area.

Both MPD and FDLE are currently investigating.
