THOMASVILLE, Ga. (WALB) - It's been a month since the Thomasville Payroll Development Authority became the owners of Roses property.

During which, PDA has heard multiple pitches about what should replace the vacant lot that sits on Dawson Street.

Shelly Zorn, Executive Director of PDA, says she is surprised to see how many companies are interested in this site.

"There is a need for another hotel, and we don't have one close to downtown. The comprehensive plan had about ten options for that lot, and I think eight were for a hotel," said Zorn. "So, there's a real need for it."

The next meeting to discuss what company may fill the empty lot is next month.

There, PDA will see if the companies have the financial means to begin construction and finish the project.

Zorn doesn't know who will get the site, but says the Thomasville Planning and Zoning Committee will be heavily involved to make sure the building matches the historic nature of the downtown area.
