MACON, Ga. (AP) - A teenager wanted in the shooting of a 7-year-old boy in Macon has been taken into custody.

Local media outlets report the Bibb County Sheriff's Office says in a news release that the 17-year-old boy was arrested Monday and charged with criminal attempt to commit murder, aggravated assault and cruelty to children.

The teen is accused of shooting Edgerin Wallace in the head on Saturday.

Deputies say the suspect had an argument with three men, including the victim's older brother before the shooting.

The older brother told his mother that the suspect had shot at him, prompting the woman drive her car in search of the teen.

She found him and that's when deputies say the suspect opened fire on the car, hitting Wallace.

The boy was hospitalized in critical condition.
