BAINBRIDGE, Ga. (WTXL) - The city of Bainbridge has been anticipating the opening of the Taurus USA headquarters for quite some time, with the official ground breaking happening in mid-August.
Most of the walls have been poured with concrete, and are waiting to be lifted into place.
The metal for the ceiling is also on-site ready to be used, but neither can be put up until the concrete floor is completely poured.
There is still about 25,000 square feet of concrete left to put down, but the weather has not been cooperating.
"We made it through the hurricane. Since the hurricane, we haven't gone five days without a heavy rain and that has slowed us down some," said Rick McCaskill, Executive Director of Development Authority of Bainbridge & Decatur County.
There have already been about 100 Taurus employees looking at houses in Bainbridge and the surrounding areas, though many who work at the factory will be local hires.
The Taurus USA headquarters is still expected to be completed by November 2019.
