TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The former president of V.E.T. Inc. in Tallahassee has announced his bid for the mayor's seat.

Joe West, a longtime Tallahassee resident and former president of V.E.T. Inc., made the announcement Tuesday afternoon.

West filed his paperwork to run for mayor of Tallahassee Wednesday morning. He released this statement to WTXL:

"The reason for this sudden entry into the political ring is my dissatisfaction with the current political climate in our City of Tallahassee Administration.

While I have questioned the ethics of our Commissioners it wasn't until after watching the City Commissioners dismantle suggestions from the City's 'Independent Ethics Board' I realized how far astray our City Commission had traveled.

Ethics reform, term limits and a return to a rotating Mayor among sitting Commissioners are just a few of the issues I would like to see addressed by our Commission, I don't see that happening from the 2 current candidates for Mayor or any of our City Commissioners."

FSU student Erik David and city commissioner Gil Ziffer are also running for mayor.
