TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A Tallahassee man will spend the rest of his life in prison for sexually abusing a young child for years.

Donald Riley has been found guilty at trial on two counts of sexual battery (victim under 12), sexual battery on a child under 12 by a person 18 years or older in familial or custodial authority, and lewd or lascivious molestation.

According to court documents, Riley molested and sexually assaulted a young child off and on for years, starting when the victim was 7 or 8 years old and continuing until 2015.

Authorities began investigating the allegations in fall 2016, interviewing several witnesses who asserted that Riley had been accused of molesting other children in the past and had exhibited threatening behavior toward those around him.

When investigators spoke to Riley, he told them that the allegations seemed to be stemming from a van he was purchasing and said that two days after he made the first payment, the victim disclosed details about the sexual abuse.

Based on the evidence, authorities found probable cause to charge Riley for the sexual abuse in November 2016.

He was later found guilty on all four counts.
