UPDATE: Tallahassee police say they arrested homicide suspect Deondrea Hudson Monday afternoon.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - Authorities say an alleged homicide suspect is in custody after being shot by a Tallahassee police officer.

The officer followed suspect Deondrea Hudson Sunday night after seeing him get into a car outside a convenience store. After a short pursuit, the officer disabled the car and gave verbal commands to the driver and passenger, which were ignored.

At some point, authorities said the office felt threatened and fired shots. The suspects ran into a nearby neighborhood.

A K-9 unit found 21-year-old Kenny Sharpe. He was transported to the hospital with a non-life threatening gunshot wound.

The officer is on paid administrative leave pending an investigation. The second suspect remains at large.
