SUWANNEE COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - Earlier Monday, Sheriff Sam St. John and the Suwannee County Sheriff's Office held a ceremony at the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office for K9 Handler Cheth Plaugher and his K9 Partner Huk for their efforts in apprehending a murder suspect.
Deputy Plaugher and Huk found suspect Ruben Gutierrez on May 30 in Alachua County.
"This was basically an appreciation for them for the work they've done for us. He's done time in the past and now allegedly took someone's life," said Sheriff St. John. "So we're just so fortunate to have such a good working relationship in the North Florida area."
Deputy Plaugher and K9 Huk were given a certificate and many dog treats at the ceremony..
Gutierrez is currently being held on charges in Alachua County and will be shipped to Suwannee County.
