TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) - One of the men accused in the murder of FSU Law Professor Dan Markel will face a jury sooner than expected.

Thursday, Luis Rivera went before a Leon County judge where his trial date was moved up from November to October 24th. Rivera has been charged with first degree murder in the shooting of Dan Markel. Markel was shot to death in July 2014.

A neighbor found him slumped over in his garage inside his Betton Hills home. Evidence against Rivera and a second suspect, Sigfredo Garcia, centers around cell phone records and a series of surveillance video.

Garcia is scheduled to go before a judge November 14th.
