TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL)- In light of the recent shooting at a school in Parkland, Leon County School Superintendent Rocky Hanna and Leon County Sheriff Walt McNeil met Tuesday to talk about safety in area schools.

Both men say they are waiting to see what comes out of the Florida legislature before they move forward with any plans.

But both say they are anxious to see what unfolds.

"As we get ready to get the report back from Florida legislature about what's taken place, about what their recommendations are on what they approve, we're doing some preliminary discussions about it and I want all of you guys to know that we're on the same page and we're working hard to keep our communities safe," said McNeil.
