UPDATE: Former Liberty County School Superintendent Will Be Cleared of All Charges

LIBERTY COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL)--Former Liberty County school Superintendent Gloria Uzzell will be cleared of all charges, assuming she agrees to all the terms in the agreement.

According to the State Attorney's office, today in a case management hearing, Uzzell entered into a deferred prosecution agreement on all her charges. They will be dropped as long as she stays within the confines of the condition in the agreement.

According to terms of the prosecution agreement, Uzzell must resign from her superintendent position of all Liberty County schools, and she will not be able to be employed by Liberty County.

The terms also say that she cannot have any contact with the witnesses. She cannot violate any laws for a year, and she must pay  five hundred dollars for the cost of the investigation. Uzzell has already paid for restitution.

If Uzzell complies, then all charges will be dropped.

Uzzell turned herself into authorities on July 17. She's charged with grand theft after investigators say Uzzell opened a credit card in the name of the Liberty County School Board without its approval or knowledge.

UPDATE (July 26, 2013 - 2:47 P.M.)

BRISTOL, Fla. (WTXL) -- An arraignment hearing has been scheduled for Liberty County's former school Superintendent.

Gloria Uzzell is scheduled to appear in court on August 5, according Liberty County's Clerk of Court's office.

Uzzell turned herself into authorities on July 17. She's charged with grand theft after investigators say Uzzell opened a credit card in the name of the Liberty County School Board without its approval or knowledge.

Investigators say Uzzell made numerous personal purchases on the card including clothing, lodging, lingerie, fuel, beauty supplies and alcohol.

Uzzell has also been suspended by Governor Rick Scott.

UPDATE (July 17, 2013 - 7:21 P.M.)

BRISTOL, Fla. (WTXL) -– Liberty County School Superintendent Gloria Gay Uzzell, was arrested earlier today on counts for grand theft, official misconduct and failing to disclose information in a public records request.

The investigation shows Uzzell opened a credit card in the name of the Liberty County School Board without its approval or knowledge.

Investigators say she made numerous personal purchases on the Visa card including clothing, lodging, lingerie, fuel, beauty supplies and alcohol.

Investigators say Uzzell altered the credit card statements, blacking out personal purchases and changing travel vouchers to match her credit card purchases. She is accused of making more than $2,000 in personal charges on the credit card.

Uzzell turned herself into the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office around 1 p.m. today. She was booked into the Liberty County Jail on a $10,000 bond. Uzzell was elected as Liberty County School Superintendent in November 2012.

The State Attorney’s Office, 2nd Judicial Circuit will prosecute this case.
