Severe weather alerts for North Florida and South Georgia

(WTXL)—According to the National Weather Service, there is currently a flash flood watch in effect for the North Florida counties of Franklin, Liberty, Gadsden, Leon, Wakulla, Jefferson, Taylor and Madison. In South Georgia, there is a flash flood watch for Baker, Brooks, Colquitt, Grady, Miller, Mitchell, Seminole and Thomas counties.

Ochlockonee River near US-27 in Tallahasee and Ochlockonee River near US-84 in Thomasville are near flooding. Apalachicola River in Blountstown has minor flooding at 15 ft.

The heavy rains will continue through Sunday, with flood watches in effect until 7:00am Sunday morning.
