TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Seven officers have moved up through the ranks at the Tallahassee Police Department on Friday.

The seven are comprised of two new police sergeants and five new police majors.

Their families came out to the City Hall to share the special moment with them.

Ginny Osborn is one of the two that just got promoted as a sergeant. She said she enjoys making a difference in the community.

"It's an honor to be promoted to be chosen out of all of my peers and given the opportunity to go out and work with the community as a supervisor and to help mentor the officers that will be on my shift," said Sgt. Osborn.

She says police have a job to do but they also have a softer side.

"I enjoy getting out with the community members when I'm not busy answering calls for service and trying to make a difference and a connection."

Officers promoted include: Major Elizbeth Dillon, Major Jason Laursen, Major Steven Outlaw, Major Lawrence Revell, Major Roderick Young, and Sergeant Scott Angulo.
