TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A second man has been arrested in connection to a Tallahassee home invasion robbery back in April.

Peter Rittman III, 23, is the second man who's been charged in connection to a home invasion robbery in the 5000 block of Lakefront Drive.

Complaint documents say Rittman and Jimmy Horne, the other man charged in the crime, broke into a victim's home and stole a wallet and purse from the victim's apartment that contained $680, a check book, several debit cards, the victim's ID, two iPhones, health insurance cards, and a set of keys.

Police determined the value of all these items were placed at $1,643.

The day after the robbery, the victim learned that Rittman was the man who was with Horne during the robbery and informed investigators.

According to court documents, Horne was interviewed after his arrest on July 23. He told investigators that he didn't do anything wrong and stated, "Peter Rittman III is the one ya'll need to be going after." He went on saying, "That was my sugar mama that he got me all in trouble with."

Horne said that when he returned with the victim's car, which he insisted she gave permission to take, Rittman stole the victim's purse. He claimed he didn't know anything about it.

Investigators were able to get into contact with Rittman the day after the interview with Horne. During that conversation, Rittman agreed to meet with investigators to provide a statement but never showed up.

Based on the investigation, police found probable cause to charge Rittman with home invasion robbery and grand theft. A warrant was issued for his arrest on July 24.

He was arrested on Tuesday and, as of Wednesday, remains in jail.

Police: Tallahassee man accused in home invasion robbery of a friend

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A man has been arrested, accused of stealing his friend's car before coming back to assault her during a home invasion robbery.

Jimmy Horne, 23, was arrested over the weekend and charged with home invasion robbery, grand theft auto, and grand theft over $300.

According to complaint documents, the incident happened back in late April at an apartment in the 5000 block of Lakefront Drive.

The victim called police over to her apartment the day after the incident and told them that she had Horne and two other friends at her house the night before the incident and was expecting them to stay over.

Horne kept asking to use the victim's car but she refused and eventually fell asleep. Documents say that when the victim awoke, she found out that Horne had taken her car and went to Settler's Creek Subdivision.

When the victim got in contact with Horne, he expressed that he was upset via a text message and said he was coming back to the victim's home to "handle it."

A little while later, the victim said Horne burst through her front door, "lunged" at her, and wrestled her to the ground. He started punching the victim when an unknown person came through the front door and went into the victim's bedroom.

When the victim asked who it was and Horne stated, "You didn't see anybody" and tried to bang the victim's head on the ground before putting his arm around her neck in a choke hold.

Documents say that before the victim passed out, Horne dropped her on the ground and ran out the door along with the unknown person who went into her bedroom. The victim got up, saw her cellphone on the ground and went to pick it up, but the unknown man wrestled it out of her hands before running off.

However, the victim was able to find her car key in the grass after Horne dropped it.

The next evening, the victim learned the identity of the man who was with Horne during the robbery. That man has not yet been charged, so WTXL is choosing not to identify him.

Investigators determined that Horne and the other man had stolen a wallet and purse from the victim's apartment that contained $680, a check book, several debit cards, the victim's ID, two iPhones, health insurance cards, and a set of keys.

Police determined the value of all these items were placed at $1,643.

Based on the investigation, police found probable cause to charge Horne in the crime. He was taken into custody on Saturday.

An investigation is ongoing as police work to identify and charge additional suspects.
