THOMASVILLE, Ga. (WALB) - Many folks were in Thomasville Friday for the 97th Annual Rose Show and Festival, and they got a special treat. The second ever Rose Queen is in town.
Back then her name was Jane Jay, although many called her JJ. Today, she goes by Jane Still.
She says she can still remember the white dress she wore made by her mother.
She says back then, the Rose Queens were elected by the student body.
Now, she lives in Jacksonville, Florida but she loves the memories she made in Thomasville.
"It was an exciting thing for young people, and the parade was not a great big parade, it was medium size," said Still. "And as I look back, it was a treat to grow up in Thomasville."
Still sat on a panel of Rose Show experts Friday at the Thomasville History Center.
She got to share her experience and memories with the community.
