TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - For years, many have complained about one road in Tallahassee and all of the safety concerns that it poses.

Now Leon County Commissioners are taking the next step for improvements.

WTXL ABC 27's Jada Williams was live Tuesday at the Leon County Courthouse.

Commissioners will discuss upgrades to two parts of Old Bainbridge Road at their commission meeting Tuesday.

Surveyors were out Monday at the intersection of Old Bainbridge and North Monroe Street, where the plan is to work on the road all the way down to the Gadsden County line.

Surveyors were also on the other end - at the intersection of Old Bainbridge and Knots Lane.

Issues include the almost nonexistent shoulder on the road where a ditch runs closely by. The road is curvy with easy to miss signage.

A study showed that these issues led to many fatal and serious car accidents over the years.

Updates include closing the ditches, adding new signs, tree trimming or removal, resurfacing, and adding grooved pavement so that the driver can hear if they're going off of the road.

Tuesday at 3 p.m. commissioners are tasked with approving the design and construction fee proposed by the contractors.
