MARIANNA, Fla. (WTXL) -  A Georgia man has been arrested after he broke into a Marianna apartment and tried to kidnap a child. 

Ronald Redini Jr., 47, of Albany, Ga., was arrested by the Marianna Police Department on Monday. 

On Sept. 17, at about 11:52 p.m., Marianna Police officers responded to Spring Gate Manor Apartments in response to a reported kidnapping attempt. 

When officers arrived on scene, they were able to determine Redini entered an apartment without consent and tried to forcibly remove a child from the apartment.  

Officers stated after Redini left the apartment with the victim, he began dragging the victim toward his car.  

According to officers, the victim was able to break free of Redini's grasp and run to safety.  

Residents of the apartment complex saw the events take place and called law enforcement.

Officers placed Redini under arrest without incident immediately following the investigation. 

He is being charged with burglary to structure unarmed, aggravated abuse and neglect of a child, and kidnapping.  

According to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement's website, Redini is also a registered sexual offender. 

Redini was taken to the Jackson County Correctional Facility to await first appearance.
