Plans to build more Wakulla County housing tabled

(WTXL) - Plans to build more housing in Wakulla County are now tabled after neighbors objected.

WTXL ABC's Jada Williams spoke to a community member to find out why neighbors oppose the development.

Many living in Wakulla County say that new housing development plans would put too many homes together in a small amount of space, and that's not the type of community they want Wakulla to become.

Neighbors were supposed to attend a County Commission Public Hearing to oppose building homes on East Ivan Road and Wakulla Arran Road.

But those neighbors won't have to come out because they were so vocal ahead of the meeting that the item was tabled.

The item originally called for plans to use 112 acres of land, building three to five homes per acre.

Neighbors immediately spoke out, saying it would add too much traffic and take away from the rural flow of Wakulla.

While the item has been tabled, development could still happen.

But neighbors say they will continue to fight it.
