PERRY, Fla. (WTXL) - In light of the recent brutal murder of two Gilchrist County deputies, the Perry Police Department is extending an open invitation for the use of their facilities to all members of law enforcement that work in or that may be traveling through Taylor County.
They say the invitation is to help hardworking men and women in law enforcement by providing "a safe, secure and comfortable area to escape from a hectic day, trying event, critical incident or something as simple as having a safe place to eat a meal."
For Perry PD, the ambush and assassination of two deputies from Gilchrist County has made clear the importance of safe and secure locations for law enforcement officers to take a moment, no matter how brief, away from their stressful jobs.
"The ability to stop by and have a meal in safety, package evidence in a secure area, finalize a report or do something as simple as using the restroom without the fear of being attacked or ambushed is the goal of this open invitation," officers wrote in a Facebook post.
If any police department, sheriff's office or other law enforcement agency has personnel traveling through our area, they are asking residents to let them know Perry PD is ready to greet them.
All they have to do is call any on duty member of the Perry Police Department for access if outside of normal office business hours.
The Perry Police Department is located at 211 S Washington St, Perry, Fl 32347
and you can contact them at 850-584-5121.
