Today at the Leon County-Tallahassee civic center the 6th annual Tallahassee fitness festival had something for everyone when it comes to your health.
Felina Martin is on a personal mission to be as healthy as possible.
She hopes other people will do the same.
Felina Martin, Tallahassee Fitness Festival organizer says, "I really had to make a mental decision to change my life style. How I ate, exercise and took care of my body you one get one and you have to treat it well."
Doctors say many of us don't treat our bodies well.
Nigel Lewis, M.D. Tallahassee Memorial Hospital says, "Obesity is if not the number one, top five critical medical illness that is facing America today. Some 150 billion dollars are spent annually on obesity related illnesses.
Knowing that, Martin puts on Tallahassee fitness festival. It's a one stop shop for anything to do with fitness and keeping your body healthy.
Linda Paris tried out a new exercise.
Linda Paris says, "I love being active. I know the importance of continuing to exercise to keep yourself healthy."
Medical experts say it is important to get kids in a healthy routine mixing fitness and the proper nutrition.
Tiffany Boyer brought her daughter C'hi to the fitness festival.
Tiffany Boyer says, "Knowing is half the battle. As long as she understands exercise is a lifetime commitment I am one hundred percent in. You need activity to do that."
Tony Conticello is an avid runner. All three of his daughters run as well.
Tony Conticello says "It is important for their bodies and souls. To be out there. Get that down time. Let their minds think, let them get out and have a good time."
Having a good time, and being healthy is exactly what Felina Martin wants for everyone. On this day at the Tallahassee Fitness Festival, mission accomplished!
