TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The Tallahassee Police Department arrested two people in connection to a car theft at approximately 4:40 p.m. on Tuesday, December 5.
Officers were in the area of 2502 Holton Street when they spotted a red Ford F150 pickup truck that matched the description of a stolen vehicle.
Police attempted to perform a traffic stop on the pickup truck, but the driver refused to stop. Instead the driver stopped, put the truck in reverse and rammed the police car before speeding away making its way to Lake Bradford Road, continuing to Capital Circe by the airport.
Reports say the Leon County Sheriff’s Office helicopter was in the area and began to track the truck.
As the suspect approached Orange Avenue, officers were able to use stop spikes to stop the truck. The suspect continued to flee and drove through the intersection of Springhill Road and Orange Avenue, hitting a black sedan, driven by an innocent bystander.
After the crash, the suspect continued to resist arrest by attempting to run away on foot, but officers were able to take him onto custody.
The officer who was originally struck and the driver of the black sedan were uninjured in those crashes.
The suspect was identified as Marshae C. O’Neal and the female passenger was identified as Leonanna B. Perry. Both received minor injuries from the crash and were taken to a local hospital for treatment.
