TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Troopers say that a pedestrian has been hospitalized in serious condition after he was hit by a car on North Monroe Street.

The Florida Highway Patrol said that Scott Leonard, 59, was traveling south on N. Monroe St. in the outside lane, just south of the intersection with Sessions Road.

Troopers were able to determine that Michael Milton, 40, had walked into the road, right into the path of Leonard's car.

Milton was then hit by the car and sustained serious injuries. He was transported to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital for his injuries. A toxicology report revealed that Milton was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.

FHP said that Milton is facing a citation for failure to use a crosswalk.

The FHP was assisted by the Tallahassee Police Department, Tallahassee Fire Department, and Leon County EMS.
