WAKULLA COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - The Wakulla County Sheriff's Office arrested 19 people Friday as part of an undercover investigation into the distribution of methamphetamine and other drugs.

Detectives with the Criminal Investigation Narcotics Unit have been working undercover for more than six months, buying methamphetamine, cocaine and other drugs from dealers in Wakulla County, leading to the arrest of 19 people in what the sheriff's office is calling "Operation Dry Ice".

Wakulla County Sheriff Jared Miller said by the end of this operation, detectives were seeking a total of 91 arrest warrants for 31 people.

"We've been doing undercover work for the last several months and 90 percent of these arrests today are on methampethamines," said Sheriff Miller.

Sheriff Miller said while "Operation Dry Ice" mainly addresses drug dealers selling meth in Wakulla County, detectives also came to learn synthetic narcotics, specifically opioids, are a growing problem.

He said people were also arrested for the sale or distribution of cocaine, methadone, and marijuana.

"If you are selling drugs in Wakulla County or using drugs in Wakulla County, we will find you and we will arrest you," said Sheriff Miller. "So if you don't find another place to go, we've got a bed in jail for you."

After the drug bust on Friday, WCSO still has warrants for 12 people. Sheriff Miller said detectives are confident they will locate and arrest these individuals, ending "Operation Dry Ice".

WAKULLA COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - Deputies have arrested 19 people for the distribution of meth and other drugs in a operation entitled, "Operation Dry Ice."

“Operation Dry Ice” primarily addressed drug dealers selling methamphetamine in Wakulla County, however, as 2018 continued, CID Narcotics Unit Detectives became increasingly concerned by the number of drug dealers selling synthetic narcotics, particularly opiates in Wakulla County, because the distribution of opiates can contribute to a future heroin problem.

Friday at about 6:30 a.m., pursuant to “Operation Dry Ice,” the Wakulla County Sheriff's Office held a briefing in their Emergency Operations Center to prepare for the arrest warrant executions.

WCSO said all but two of the wanted suspects were related to the sale and/or distribution of methamphetamine, cocaine and other drugs in Wakulla County, mostly methamphetamine.

Arrest warrants were obtained for the other two suspects as a result of follow-up investigations related to drug distribution. Following the briefing, Sheriff Jared F. Miller, CID Detectives, and deputies spread out across Wakulla County to arrest the suspects.
