ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - Federal prosecutors say two upstate New York jail guards are among nine people charged after an investigation of online gambling and money laundering.

U.S. Attorney Richard Hartunian says three men and a woman from Florida have been charged along with five men from the Albany area. Two of the Florida suspects are charged with money laundering, and two with transmission of wagering information. The New Yorkers are charged with enterprise corruption.

Hartunian said FBI and IRS agents and local authorities who got search warrants for locations in Florida, New York, New Hampshire and California has seized more than $1 million so far.

Authorities say the gambling involved sporting events and the investigation took several years.

Albany County Sheriff Craig Apple said Wednesday the probe into whether other county jail guards were involved is continuing.
