MOULTRIE, Ga. (WALB) - An Advance Auto Parts store in Moultrie was robbed at gunpoint and police still have no suspect.
The victims didn't want to be interviewed on camera, because they say they are just trying to forget about that night and move on.
Even local residents, like Chris Barber, are surprised with the news of what happened.
"It's pretty shocking, you don't usually see that kind of thing here, in Moultrie," said Barber.
Stewart Carter, Ashley Strickland and her child were at the Advance Auto Parts on First Avenue Southeast in Moultrie when the armed man ran into the store demanding money.
He forced Carter to make a fake transaction so the register would open.
Moultrie Police Sergeant, Shavarye Anderson, says the man stole over $600.
He then forced Carter, Strickland, and her young child into a closet in the back of the store and used a latter to keep it shut.
"It's a frightening situation, especially if you got a child with you. I mean I really just don't see the point in it," said Anderson. "I mean people shouldn't have to resort to that kind of thing."
Anderson says the gunman probably did this so he'd have more time to get far away from the scene.
Carter was able to call 911, and police were able to get them out of the closet.
None of the victims were injured.
But, Strickland says her son hasn't been the same since and says he sometimes wakes up in the middle of the night because of what happened.
Barber is also disappointed to know this is happening in his community.
"Growing up, Moultrie was always very peaceful, very quiet. I mean you just never really heard or saw any of this stuff when I was growing up," said Baker. "And I just really think it needs to get back to that point."
The survellience footage shows the gunman was wearing a neon green sweatshirt, and appears to have a limp.
