MOULTRIE, GA (WTXL) - A firefighter from Moultrie facing arson charges, after he's accused of starting a fire that destroyed a mobile home last week.

Travis Boyd is facing arson and burglary charges.

Investigators believe the volunteer firefighter entered the mobile home while the residents were away, with the intent to set the fire.

After the fire was set, officers say the 45-year-old left, and got a neighbor to call 911. When the call went out to firefighters, Boyd told his colleagues that he was already at the scene.

The home was destroyed, and when the fire marshal reviewed the scene, that's when they discovered it was purposely set.

Boyd was fired before he was charged, on reasons officials say is unrelated to the fire.
