MONTICELLO, FL (WTXL) -- A Jefferson County woman battling brain cancer is in her final days.

Amanda Vickers, a wife and mother of two, says she has one big wish on her bucket list: to meet professional athlete and philanthropist Tim Tebow.

"I feel like God has led me this way and has been preparing me for this," she said. "It takes something like this for you to realize what a remarkable place that we live."

Two years ago, Vickers had a seizure, leading doctors to find several tumors and diagnose her with stage 3 brain cancer. During her first major surgery, she had a stroke, weakening the left side of her body.

She spent three months of rehab at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital -- and she's went through several rounds of chemotherapy. Last summer, her cancer moved to stage 4.

"She's a fighter. She's a very strong fighter," said Barbara Altomaro, her mother-in-law. "Always has been."

Vickers said the community has supported her and her family with countless gifts, but she keeps one close by -- an autographed photo from the Tim Tebow Foundation.

"It meant everything," she said. "It felt like...I can't even explain it."

"Had to frame it immediately," Altomaro said, "and it has not left her bedside since."

Vickers said she loved Tebow as an athlete while he played for the University of Florida, her alma mater -- but she says his Christian faith is what inspires her.

"He doesn't let anybody tear him down," she said. "He sticks to it."

"That's just an example for her," said her mother Barbara Rhodes. "She just has always loved him."

"I just don't think there's probably a better person on this earth," Vickers said.

Vickers started hospice last week at her home, where she will spend her final days. She said she would love nothing more than for Tebow to visit.

"It would mean so much to me if he could be on my bucket list before I cross over," she said, "to be able to have a conversation with him."

"It would give her a little bit of happiness and new strength maybe," Rhodes said.

"We're running on a short leash," Altomaro said. "When you have a bucket list, and you know that this bucket can't be too deep, he's kinda at the top of the list."

Vickers said she went to several Florida Gator games and some NFL games to watch Tebow play.

She said if she had a chance to meet him in person, she'd ask him about the inspiration behind his books. She, of course, has both of them.
