MADISON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - A convicted felon from Madison was arrested on a firearm charge after a deputy making a traffic stop smelled marijuana in his vehicle.
James Benjamin Ware, 36, was arrested by a Madison County Sheriff's Office deputy Thursday for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
After the traffic stop, the deputy called for assistance from a canine unit and found in the vehicle residual marijuana and a loaded .38-caliber revolver.
Ware denied owning the handgun.
At the time of arrest, Ware was out of jail on a $7,000 bond resulting from his arrest on April 10 by Madison County Sheriff's Office Drug Force Investigators for trafficking in ecstasy and possession of cocaine.
