LOS ANGELES (AP) - The Los Angeles Unified School District says it has reached a $139 million settlement of all remaining litigation involving an elementary school teacher convicted of committing numerous counts of lewd conduct against his students.

The settlement announced Friday by the district and plaintiffs' lawyers involves 82 claims that remained after 65 cases were settled previously for about $30 million.

Miramonte Elementary School teacher Mark Berndt was arrested in 2012 and accused of engaging in what he told students were tasting games. He pleaded no contest to 23 counts and was sentenced to 25 years in prison.

Prosecutors said he blindfolded students and fed them his semen on cookies.
