Lowndes Co. deputies arrest teens accused of burglary spree

VALDOSTA, Ga. -- Four young people have been arrested in the investigation of a rash of residential burglaries in the Valdosta area, according to Lowndes County Sheriff Chris Prine.

In recent weeks, the sheriff's officials have noticed an increase in the number of residnetial burglaries in the southwest portion of Lowndes County. Valdosta Police officers say they have also seen an uptick in burglary reports. Investigators and dectectives in both departments looked into these cases and developed information on the group of suspects.

On Wednesday, Valdosta police took the four into custody. During a follow up investigation, property reported stolen from several burglarized homes was found at a residence on East Brookwood Drive. Investigators also found stolen property in a local hotel room that was reportedly rented by the suspects.

As a result, Demarcus Evans, Balewa Ferguson, Bruce Brown, and an unnamed juvenile were arrested. They are charged with receiving stolen property Investigators say that they plan to file burglary charges on the group in the near future, and that others may soon be arrested as part of the ongoing investigation.
