"The WTXL Road Trip Series continues, this week in Colquitt County."

MOULTRIE, GA (WTXL) - Colquitt County is one of the top counties for agriculture production in the state of Georgia, but it still plans to expand into other industries.

Moultrie Economic Development Director Darrell Moore says one of the things that makes Colquitt agriculture so strong is the diverse agricultural community. Various crops such as cotton and peanuts make Colquitt the number one producer of agriculture in South Georgia.

This distinction means anything but staying complacent. Moore says Colquitt hopes to expand even further to make businesses want to grow in Moultrie.

With recent expansion projects including a Publix shopping center, new poultry farms, and a $45 million high school expansion, cities in Colquitt can expect to see businesses continue to grow.

Moore says he hopes the new retail developments will continue to create jobs and most importantly, give people more opportunities to earn and spend in Moultrie.
