TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) -- Plans are underway to begin construction on Urban Outfitters' first Tallahassee store.

The company is an urban-style company geared toward college students. There are fewer than 200 stores worldwide and 8 in Florida.

The new 18,000 square foot Urban Outfitters store will be located within the new CollegeTown in Tallahassee, on the 700 block of South Woodward Avenue, where the old Durra Print warehouse currently sits.

Once completed in the spring of 2014, CollegeTown will feature an array of stores and restaurants.

"Students living in the CollegeTown District will be able to eat, drink, listen to great music, and now shop all within a few steps of where they live and go to school," Alan Hooper, who with South Florida restaurateur, Tim Petrillo co founded Urban Street Development, the developer of CollegeTown. "We decided to take a green approach and rejuvenate the Durra Print warehouse on South Woodward much like you see in warehouse districts in San Francisco and New York."

Developers and the City of Tallahassee have been working to redevelop the Gaines Street District to make it more pedestrian friendly and bringing in more restaurants, businesses and attractions.
