MIDWAY, Fla. (WTXL) -- The anticipated upgrade of the Gulf tropical system to tropical storm strength has occurred Wednesday afternoon.
Tropical Storm Hermine has highest wind speeds of 40 mph and is slowly drifting north at 2 mph.
Expectations for impacts from rain and wind gusts in the northeastern Gulf of Mexico and surrounding land areas remains in the outlook for Thursday afternoon through Friday morning.
Hurricane Watches remain up for the coastal and offshore zones of the Big Bend. Tropical Storm Warnings are in effect for interior Big Bend and stateline counties, while Tropical Storm Watches exist for some interior south Georgia counties.
