TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) -- The man who police say is responsible for a deadly crash in Tallahassee has been sentenced to prison.

Jordan Griffith, 23, was sentenced Monday to 13 years in prison. In November of 2012 Griffith pleaded "no contest" to charges of Manslaughter by driving under the influence.

Griffith was charged for the October 2011 crash that killed Tallahassee resident, and Florida State University student, Samuel Brooks Rogers, 23.

The crash happened at the intersection of Tharpe Street and Devra Drive.

Tallahassee Police investigators say Griffith's blood alcohol level was twice the legal limit. Investigators say Griffiths was driving an Infiniti eastbound on Tharpe Street when he crossed the center line, hitting the Honda, driven by Rogers, head on.

Several other passengers in both vehicles were treated for less severe injuries.

A native of Tallahassee, Rogers graduated from Leon High School where he was a member of the swim team.

Griffith has asked to serve his sentence as close to his hometown of Tampa as possible. He's also sentenced to two years community control, pay fines and court costs, and his driver's license revoked for life.
