TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — WTXL’s digital subchannels have been restored after an outage caused by storms on Christmas Eve.
Viewers using an antenna can now access Bounce, Grit, Court TV and Court TV Mystery. Closed captioning has also been restored on the ABC primary signal of WTXL.
The weather caused damage at both the station’s studio tower in Midway and at the transmission tower in southern Georgia.
“The weather caused three separate issues – a broken dish strut on our studio tower, a lightning strike that disabled our microwave transmitter at our main tower and water that got into our waveguide lines at that tower,” said WTXL General Manager Matt Brown. “Our engineering team worked through holidays and weekends to identify and repair each of those issues, along with the help of several tower crews. Most importantly, we appreciate the patience and understanding of our viewers who were impacted by this.”
