Woman seriously injured after deer-involved crash in Madison County

MADISON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) — Troopers say a woman is suffering from serious injuries after crashing into a ditch while trying to avoid a deer in Madison County.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, the accident occurred Wednesday around 8:45 p.m. on SE Dale Leslie Drive in Madison County.

FHP says the driver of a Kia Sorento was traveling west on SE Dale Leslie Drive, when a deer came from the south shoulder into the the driver's path.

The driver then steered to the right and traveled onto the north grass shoulder and into a ditch and over a grass culvert to avoid hitting the deer.

The driver was identified as 32-year-old Lizabeth Marie Taylor.

After the crash, Taylor was transported to Madison Memorial Hospital suffering from serious injuries.

Fortunately, the passenger inside the car did not suffer any injuries.
