WAKULLA COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) — Wakulla County Schools will be closed until Tuesday, March 31 due to coronavirus concerns.
They released the following statement Friday afternoon:
Today at 4pm, Governor Desantis and Education Commissioner Richard Corcoran held an emergency conference call with all Superintendents in the state. The purpose of the call was to direct all public school districts in Florida to add an additional week to their spring break. This means that Wakulla County Public School students will not return to school until Tuesday, March 31st. Teachers will report on Monday, March 30th for a teacher planning day. The week of March 23rd-27th teachers and support staff will not be required to return to work. District level administration along with school principals and assistant principals will return to work the week of March 23rd-27th. This decision was made after consulting with Federal and State health officials in order to combat the spread of COVID-19 virus.
We will continue to monitor and communicate additional information in the coming weeks.
Have a safe and relaxing Spring Break.
