TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — Families planning vacations are feeling the impact of the coronavirus in the Big Bend.

For families afraid to travel because of the coronavirus, visit Tallahassee is launching a 'Stay-cation' itinerary on its app.

The itinerary will help families plan out a local vacation on short notice.

It will highlight the many sights and eats around the capital city.

The virus is expected to hurt tourism statewide.

Kerri Post, Leon County director of division of tourism, says hotels are reporting low reservations and even cancellations that go into the summer.

She says many people will want to avoid airplanes and crowds.

Since Leon County isn't one of the state's bigger tourist locations, they're looking forward to showcasing what's around here.

"Why we bode well is because we're a drive destination,"said Post. "So we are certainly gonna to see some impact. It may not be as deep and impactful as those destinations that rely on air travel, the lot of the big theme parks things like that."
