VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) — The former Tickle Me Pink Daycare employee accused of assaulting a 2-year-old child has turned herself into jail.

Police say 57-year-old Emmer Jean Thomas turned herself into the Lowndes County Jail for felony child cruelty on Wednesday.

She is accused of assaulting a toddler on Jan. 14 at the Tickle Me Pink Day Care and Learning Center in Valdosta.

The owners of the daycare, Pamela and Brent Carter, were also arrested for failing to report the incident when it happened.

The owners were released on bond, but are facing charges of tampering with evidence, providing a false statement, and failure to report child abuse.

The Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning issued an emergency closure order for both Tickle Me Pink Daycare and Learning Center locations in Valdosta.
