Suspect arrested in double murder in Perry

PERRY, Fla. (WTXL) — The Taylor County Sheriff's Office has arrested the man they say killed two people in Perry on Friday.

Authorities say Joseph Luther shot at a car that later crashed into the trees in front of the U.S. Post Office.

Sadly, the driver and passenger both died from their injuries.

Police say Luther then drove away but officers later caught up with him.

The names of the victims have not been released.

Luther is now being charged with two counts of first degree murder.

He is being held in the Taylor County jail.


Officials in Taylor County are investigating a crash and shooting that left at two dead, according to the Perry Police Department.

Officials say the incident occurred around 3 p.m. near the post office in Perry and ended on Harrison Blue Road. Authorities also say no Perry Police officers have been injured.

Perry police say there is no threat to the public and they are keeping the area closed to the public until crime scene processing has completed.
