TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — Tallahassee Community College wants to make sure no student goes hungry this holiday season.

At a time when students need it most, TCC's Talon Market is meeting the need by sending students home with extra food for the holidays.

"It's incredibly important," says TCC President Dr. Jim Murdaugh, "even more important this year that all organizations like ours will take care of our students."

Roxanne Allen is one of the 50 students able to get a meal during Friday's giveaway.

"I feel supported both inside the classroom and out," said Allen. "I take online classes so this really helps for me to come up here and feel loved and I just never had a school that did this before so it's really nice you know how to get something for the holidays."

Allen says the extra help is more than appreciated.

In addition to the non-perishable goods, TCC also included gift cards in the bags for students to purchase meat and produce.

Since its inception, Talon's Market has serviced more than 1,000 students experiencing food insecurity.
