TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — Electric companies are taking precautions of their own against the coronavirus.

Talquin Electric has initiated their 'Pandemic Response Plan.'

Phase one of the plan is education, awareness and preparation, meaning they're being extra careful with how they interact with customers.

Crews are out everyday at people's homes, so the electric company wants to make sure everybody is aware of potential exposure.

Maicel Green of Talquin Media and External Affairs says the plan emphasizes washing hands and other cleanliness tips.

"As crews are out taking care of things and they're on assignment," Green said, "we are actually in contact with our members on a regular basis. We want to make sure we're prepared, that we're doing all the things necessary in order to be preventative."

If you'd like to limit your exposure to crews to prevent any risk, Talquin says customers can use the drive-through at member services or any of their services online.
