TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — With food insecurity on the rise in Leon County, the community is finding ways to make sure everyone is fed.

They're doing it with the help of Google maps, using it to help people find free food pantries.

Highlighting places like the "Help Shelf TLH," where people can pick up food and toiletries.

Ashley Hopkins and other volunteers have been helping to restock pantries since the pandemic began.

She says there are resources around the city, people just don't know where to go to get the food.

"I felt the need as a community member to help out other members of the community right now and this is an easy way to do it. The pantries are mostly accessible 24/7 anybody can take anything out of them for any reason no questions asked if you need one thing out of the pantry or if you need everything out of the pantry," said Hopkins.

Hopkins gets the items in the pantry from donations from her Bike-2-parks group and others in the community.
