TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — Help for families in need continues in the Big Bend area.
Second Harvest and the Spanish Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Tallahassee partnered to bring groceries to people in the Lake Jackson area.
An hour before the food drive began, cars lined up to receive items like milk, chicken, and canned goods.
Church members say they gave away enough food to feed about 300 families on Friday.
They said giving back to the community is all a part of the church's mission to help others in need.
"We started this a few years ago to service everyone in need in the area, but we do a lot to help the Spanish speaking communities in Quincy, Havana, and obviously Leon County," said Maria Smith, who organizes the food drives.
Organizers say they host food drives regularly, but those are usually big enough to feed only about 40 families.
They're looking forward to another futures partnerships with Second Harvest.
