TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — As part of a traveling exhibit, different groups from Tallahassee gathered at Florida State University Wednesday to celebrate amendment 19, ratified in 1920, giving women the right to vote.

The 100th anniversary celebration was a history lesson as well.

FSU professor Carla Laroche walked attendees through the history of the ratification of this amendment.

Primary elections are right around the corner and Laroche says it's important for women to get out and vote.

"If women stayed home on an election day, half of the population would not be sharing their voice and deciding the future of the country," Laroche said.

Remember, early voting is currently going on. The primary in Florida is March 17, in Georgia it's March 24.
