TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — One of the biggest issues seen from recent storms are downed power lines and trees.

It's something many of you could end up dealing with again on Thursday.

There are some things you can be looking for ahead of time to determine if a tree near your home could be a danger.

Bubba's Tree Service says mushrooms around a tree are a sign of weakening. Trees with ant hills nearby could mean termites.

Lastly, one of the biggest threats is limbs hanging over your home.

Experts say they need to come down.

"If you look around over your house and there's some dead limbs that have to be cut down in order to get your insurance policy renewed, you want to consider where it is above your house and how close it is to your house," said Loyd Forehand, the owner of Bubba's Tree Removal.

The arborist says not all trees can handle multiple storms. Calling an expert is the best way to see if your trees can.
