COLQUITT COUNTY, Ga. (WTXL) — If you're going through football withdraws, look no further than Colquitt, whose annual "folk life play" is returning for their spring shows.
Swamp Gravy Fourth and Long is returning to the Mural City after what was supposed to be a stellar fall run.
This annual play runs each weekend during the months of October and March, with the first shows last fall being near perfect.
After Swamp Gravy's opening weekend, Hurricane Michael hit, causing Swamp Gravy to be canceled for two weekends. Cotton Hall wasn't spared from the damage either, the roof had been lifted up and will need to be replaced.
Temporary patches were put in place to prevent leaks and the show returned the stage by the end of the month, though many seats remained empty since a number of people were still recovering after Michael.
"We were able to move most of those people to performances in March because they wanted to see it so badly. We had some really generous patrons who couldn't make it, but still wanted us to keep their ticket sales as a donation," said Will Murdock, Artistic Director of Colquitt/Miller County Arts Council. "And then for those who couldn't make it and we want them to come back, we were able to give those other people refunds as well."
Tickets are still available for the Swamp Gravy Fourth and Long showings, however it's expected that the 2:00 p.m. show will sell out each weekend, so you better hurry.
Between the ticket sales, private donations, and the insurance money, Cotton Hall is expected to have a new roof by April.
